***Antonio Wednesday’s Wonders ***
A Medal Bar and a smaller one.
I know, it is Tuesday, but tomorrow I won’t have time to post it… so
In the last months, I have started to collect more and more “Miniaturketten”. I love the quality and work of those “Minis”.
This time I am showing both a Medal Bar and its “Miniatur”. It is not such a common combination, although made by very common Medals. This is one the things I most love. And here I have shown a couple of examples:
It has the following decorations:
1. Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen, 2. Klasse.
2. Württemberg: Dienstauszeichnung, 9. Jahre,
3. Preussen: Landwehr-Dienstauszeichnung, 2. Klasse.
I supposed, this medal bar and mini were made straight after the war and up to 1934, because the Ehrenzeichen 1914-1918 is not present. Who knows, this may have also been made between 1913 and 1914, as the second medal was the version adopted during 1913.
The first medal was awarded very, very often for service to the country or state. It was mainly awarded in Prussia and it closer German states. In this case, we have a medal from a different Kingdom: Württemberg.
This Soldier or NCO (at most) may have been already in the army a few years before the First World War and right after, joined a Landwehr unit and served in it during a campaign or at least a few months to be given the 3rd One.
Or maybe, he was already in the Reserve when World War One started, served in a Landwehr Regiment and stayed in the army after the very end of the war. Let’s just remember, that the war years counted double.
The quality of the medal bar is good, quite good, as well as for the Miniature Button or Knoploch Miniatur. It is a pity that the button is not marked with the name of the jeweller, who made it. There were a few of those “juwelier”, who used to mark those buttons, for example, Godet, Hemmerle or Weiss.
So, another one in the collection and more to come..
