A different „Miniaturkette“.

A different „Miniaturkette“.
I am starting to get more serious collecting this type of pieces. There are many of them and some with a huge quality. One of the Miniatures of the today’s Miniature-Chain has plenty of it.

The Miniaturkette, that I am presenting today, has the following decorations:

– Roter Adler Orden 4. Klasse.
– Landwehr-Dienstauszeichnung 2. Klasse.

I bought both, the Orden and the Auszeichnung separated. I believe the chain may have been broken or sold. No idea, so I had to find one any where else. Finally, they are reunited in a chain.

The combination is common to see in the “Ranglisten”, the yearly books with the List of all of the officers and their decorations. I do miss one medal, the 1897 Centenary one, given to everyone in the army, including the reserve and those, who fought during the previous wars. So, let suppose for a minute, that these were part of a “Miniaturkette”, prior to that year. To support that, I have checked the ranks in 1896 and found a few officers with that particular combination. I added a couple of pictures as “proof”. Below in the sources, you will see, where obtained the names. I will always recommend to everybody, interested in Medal Bars, to have a look at those books, just for fun. You will be able to find very “crazy” combinations of medals.

I starting talking about the quality of some of these “Mini”. Here we find an example of that with the Roter Adler Orden, a 2 Cms big cross with a hand painted centre. The Landwehr-Dienstauszeichnung is even smaller with its 1,2 Cms “big”.

So, that is it for today, looking forward to get my next Mini.
