After being absent for a few months, I have acquired a few new items to present in Gus’ Gear. This is an interesting pistol, it is obviously a Ruby, although a smaller version. The size is the same as the standard small frame 7,65mm pistols common in the German market, like the Beholla, Sauer & Sohn M13, Mauser M14, Schwarzlose M08 and the Walther Model 4. What makes it interesting is that it has the model inscription in German, and also has German Imperial nitro proofs. These proofs were used into the Reichswehr period so dating the pistol is a bit problematic. It is constructed the same as the Spanish made Rubys, but with German text and proofs. The serial number is 1083, and I suspect that the numbering started at 1000 making this a low serial number from a very limited production. The holster is a repurposed holster, possibly a post war CZ24 holster. The construction of this holster is similar to Austrian or Czech manufacture. The pistol itself is a bit different from the Spanish made pistols, resembling the Beholla pistol made in Germany. The grips have a Hungarian look to them and the sight is very different from the Spanish Rubys I have seen.
