A very common combination

Today the article is going to be very short. There is no much to explain about the following Miniaturkette, it has just 2 decorations, which are very common to see in many Imperial German Medal Bars:

– Eisernes Kreuz. II Klasse (Königreich Preußen).
– Friedrich August Kreuz 2. Klasse (Großherzogtum Oldenburg).

Not much can be said about the person awarded with these decorations. He could have been a soldier, or a NCO or an Officer during the war. This is the great difference between many of the Northern German States and the Southern ones, the same medal or cross may have been awarded to an officer or a soldier, like this case for the Oldenburg one (or even the Iron Cross). Having a look at the Kingdoms of Bavaria or Württemberg, it is easy to spot if a medal bar was made for an Officer and not.

So, we do not know, if the person was an officer or not, as well as we do not know if he was originally from the Great Duchy of Ordenburg. In theory, a person from that State would have receive it…. As well as soldier from other states, which were fighting along the Oldenburg troops, like the Oldenburgische Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 91. Or even it could be, that a soldier may have received it because his officer was from that State.

By the way, I already spoke a bit about that particular regiment in another article. You can find it, if you type in the search option the following words: “A Pipe from Oldenburg.”

So, at this point, with no information about the piece, we just say, that it is a small but nice Miniaturkette, which belonged to a person, who used in his Jacket or Frack.
And my collection of “Minis” is starting to grow up… another one is on the way…
