French Engineer’s helmet

Today for Gus’ Gear, I have a French Engineer’s helmet with the badge depicting a helmet and cuirass with “FR” embossed. It is possible to see two shades of blue paint on this helmet, the lighter blue was used early and was covered later with a darker shade. This was a gift from a very good friend in Norway, he saw that I had an Engineer’s uniform and no helmet, thanks Tore!

The photo of the front of the helmet shows the insignia of the Engineer Regiments.

The side view shows that the front and rear visors are connected with rivets. The size and positioning as well as the profile of the comb indicate this helmet was manufactured by Jouet de Paris.

The photo of the liner shows this one has remnants of a second pattern liner of dyed leather.
