Today for Gus’ Gear I have another Italian Adrian based helmet. This is a Lippman Model 1916, they were produce domesticly in Italy based on the Adrian pattern. The main difference is the helmet body and visors are stamped in one peice, making manufacture simpler and a stronger helmet. After the war, France copied the construction method of the Lippman for the Mle 26 helmets.
The front vew shows the comb is attached with rivets, the post war produced helmets had the comb welded in place.
From the side view, the relation to the Adrian helmet is easy to see.
The view of the liner shows it is similar to the 2nd pattern liner of the Adrian helmet. The cloth used in the liner is gregio-verdi, possibly sourced from salvaged cloth as Italy was in short supply of wool for uniforms.
