A Miniature of a very famous post War Decoration.
Yes, this piece has nothing to be with a group called “ WW1 German History”, but for sure it was worn by MANY German WW1 Veterans. And as we have seen previously, at the end we are showing many topics from other armies, not only the German one.
And Yes, it is Tuesday, but tomorrow, I will not have the time to upload it…
I would say, this is one of the most famous “Freikorps” decorations, if not the most famous one. For sure, the most beautiful one. I will be showing today a miniature of the “Schlesisches Bewährungsabzeichen 2.Klasse mit Schwertern”, sometimes also found as “Schlesischer Adler”.
Right after the WW1, the Peace didn’t come so easy as expected, but still there were fights in many places in Europe. You can read a lot about those conflicts in the book from Robert Gerwarth “The Vanquished: Why the First World War Failed to End, 1917-1923”.
This “eagle” (with just swords) was given to those German military (and I believe, also paramilitary), who fought against the Polish insurrections between 1919 and 1921, which ended up with the Polish gaining terrain in Schlesien, but not that much as they would have wanted.
It is a nice and good made miniature as big as 16 x 12 mm.
More to come…. Or I hope so…
