Prussian M1842 and Oldenburg M1895 Pickelhauben- Lisbon Military Museum, Portugal

Great to see a Portuguese Pickelhaube and I was pleasantly surprised to see an old tall Prussian Pickelhaube and a later Oldenburg helmet in their collection (every good museum should have at least one Pickelhaube, surely?). One can only guess how the former ended up there, but the latter may have been captured by Portuguese soldiers on the Western Front. I was told by the staff midway through my visit that photography was strictly forbidden. So I shouldn’t have taken these photos and I didn’t get to make a video there, sorry. That’s a real shame because it’s a great museum with a lot on the Portuguese on the Western Front in the First World War that can’t be seen anywhere else. They also do not have a website.
